How did the Husky breed come about?

The Husky is not considered a dog breed, in fact, it is a mixed breed dog as a result of crossbreeding between two popular breeds: the Siberian dog and the Alaskan dog. I was raised many years ago in Alaska to have a dog with great sled qualities.

Among these two original breeds, it is assumed that the Siberian dog breed appeared by the Alaskan dog breed since its age exceeds several centuries when a tribe called "Chukchi" bred a group of dogs in uninhabited areas of Siberia, where they had good abilities to It can withstand long-distance hunting. On the other hand, the Alaskan dog first appeared in the nineteenth century in western Alaska, where it was bred by the Inuit for its ability to hunt large prey, pull sleds, and its obedient character.

What is the shape of a Husky?

The Husky is a dog very similar to the Siberian dog, but with some traits specific to its other parent, the Alaskan Malamute. Thus, it is usually longer and thinner than the Siberian dog, although it is of medium size, weighing from 18 to 40 kg and height from 65 to 72 cm. Males are larger than females.

He has a strong body and strong muscles. Husky's shoulders are broad, the chest is broad and deep with well-springed ribs, and the back is straight, sloping toward the hip. The husky's head is large and broad, and the small, pointed ears are widely separated from each other.

The eyes provide an authoritative, protective and affectionate expression, being small, almond-shaped, and light brown or blue. As in the case of the Siberian dog, some specimens may have heterochromia (one eye of each colour). The husky's nose is prominent and conical in shape, with a black snout circling its mouth.

Is an Alaskan Husky a good family dog?

The Alaskan Hound has a very balanced temperament and is a very affectionate dog that gets along well with children and the elderly. However, it is also very sensitive to changes in tone of voice, so it can become extremely fickle or shy if it is not spoken to respectfully, punished, or not trained properly.

Possessing very strong hunting and working instinct, he tends to be somewhat stubborn, but generally obeys and responds well to his guard.

The Alaskan Hound is a very cheerful, energetic, and energetic dog that will always be willing to play and do any kind of physical activity.

They usually get on well with other animals, although they tend to develop the attitude to be somewhat dominant when they live with other dogs. However, he usually develops himself to solve or live with his behavioral problems.

How do you train an Alaskan Husky?

To have an obedient Husky dog that controls his instincts, he must be trained and taught from a young age as a puppy. During these first weeks of life, dogs spend a period of socialization, in other words, at this time they are more sensitive and receptive to taking on new environments, situations, people, and animals in the future so that they are not capricious, shy and unbalanced when they are adults.

Although there will always be a genetic component, the mood that is attained can be one way or the other depending on how good of a community one lives in.

Additionally, they must be taught and trained through positive stimulation, as these dogs are particularly sensitive to punishment and yelling or raising their voices, so learning that rewards positive behaviors and does not punish inappropriate behaviors will be much faster. , less traumatic and more effective with these dogs.

In the case of the adoption of the Husky to live with other dogs, it is necessary to introduce gradually because of the dominant personality that can possess the Husky dog (Alaskan dog).

Are Alaskan huskies hard to take care of?

The Husky or Alaskan Hound is a dog that needs a lot of daily activity and exercise, so it is not a very suitable dog for caregivers who rarely set foot in their home and are sedentary or would take them out for a 5-minute walk without exercise. . Additionally, he is not an ideal dog for extremely hot environments due to the nature of his hair.

About this hair, it should be combed several times a week to avoid the formation of knots, tangles, and accumulation of dirt and debris. In addition, it tends to lose a lot of hair, so during times of hair loss in the spring and autumn, brushing should be more frequent and showers only when necessary. Cleanliness of the ears, eyes, and teeth should also be frequent to avoid infections that affect these wonderful dogs.

A dog's diet, whether commercial or household, must be in the right amount so that they can get all the nutrients necessary in the right proportions to keep them healthy in optimal conditions. The daily amount depends on the individual conditions of each animal, which varies with age, size, physical activity, and weather conditions.
